PLANS to build two more towers at Castlefield Basin in Manchester have caused a row, with many objecting to the plans.
Renaker Build wants to build two huge towers on the opposite side of the basin next to the Bridgewater Canal, but Castlefield Estates have hired independent planning consultants and heritage experts to help fight the application, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Already one tower
There is already one tower overlooking Castlefield Basin (pictured) with the two new towers proposed for the opposite side of the basin next to the viaduct.
The many objectors point out that nine and 21 storeys blocks that will contain 188 upmarket apartments and penthouses will ‘dwarf' Castlefield Basin and ruin the conservation area.
Though the people at Castlefield Estates are not opposed to building at the site, they maintain that the 21 storeys tower would be too tall.
