PLANK Lane Lift Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been beset with problems for years, (we ourselves once being stuck there!) and it is closed yet again.
Two reasons are given by the Trust—one that it is closed for maintenance, and the other that it is closed for essential repair! Take your pick!
Every two days
The essential repair however is not too essential, as the bridge is able to be operated once every two days at 2pm. This week it will be today (Wednesday) and Friday.
The picture shows a former occasion when the bridge was out of action and had to be operated by a crane.
In giving this information, our Keith Gudgin asks if this mean if you are stuck on the Bridgewater side of Leigh Bridge could get charged £40 for overstaying? More than likely.
