THE bridge over the entrance to the new White Mills Marina has now been opened, enabling the New Way footpath to also be opened once again.

The picture shows the villagers from Earls Barton on the Nene celebrating the opening of the new bridge.

Closed during development

So when former Chairman of Earls Barton Parish Council Martin Cahill cut the ribbon it not only marked the opening of the new bridge but also the reopening of the popular Nene Way footpath which had been closed during the development of the Nene's newest marina.

Children, dogs, walkers and boaters gathered together to be amongst the first to walk over the bridge, whilst Roger Funrevall on his narrowboat Charlie Beere steered his narrowboat under it to allow the occasion to be recorded.

Floating pontoons

With floating pontoons, to allow for the rise and fall of the river, White Mills Marina which officially opened for business at the beginning of April this year is capable of accommodating 141 boats including wide beams, narrowboats and cruisers and offers the facilities you would expect from a modern marina.
