ANOTHER young man lost his life after falling into the Ouse at York from a bridge in the early hours of Sunday morning, it is believed after a night out.

People on the bridge threw one of the lifebelts that have been placed for such emergencies, but the man was swept away in the current, and despite the efforts of the people of the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and its boat, no trace of him could be found, Alan Tilbury tells us.

No body recovered

Later, underwater teams were brought in, but up to date, no body has been recovered.

As no one has yet been reported missing matching the description of the young man, believed to be in his early twenties, the police are unable to identify the missing man, but are asking anyone with information to come forward.

It is not known how he came to fall into the river as the parapet of the bridge is somewhat high.
