WITH the opening of navigation through two bridges damaged by the Boxing Day floods, the entire length of the Calder & Hebble Navigation will again be available to boaters.

Work on both Elland Bridge (pictured) and Crowther Bridge has proceeded enough to allow the navigation to open tomorrow, 4th July, though there is still work to do on the actual structures, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Reopen

The waterway suffered badly in the floods of Boxing Day last year, damaging bridges and banks and sinking no few boats as it flooded as the result of massive downpours.

Work has been continuing to repair the navigation over the past six months, that is just about finally finished, so once again boaters will have use of the entire waterway.
