A POPULAR bus service used by boaters when in Braunston is being revised following cuts to funding by the local councils, writes Kevin McNiff.

The No.12 bus will cease operation between Daventry and Rugby on Saturday 4th June. It currently connects canal users from a stop outside the Boathouse Pub. It also serves the HMP site at Onley, which is also a popular mooring spot on the north Oxford canal near bridge 81.

Only between Braunston and Daventry

From 6th June, the bus will only travel between Braunston village and Daventry, stopping at The Green. Preliminary times would indicate an hourly service but this should be checked with the online timetable when the service commences.

Data supplied by Stagecoach Midlands showed that the service was not really used to its potential, unlike the No.10 which runs from Daventry to Rugby. However, following discussions with Northamptonshire and Warwickshire county councils, Stagecoach will run an experimental trial service (13) for a period of six months, to be reviewed in December.
