IT WOULD seem that canalside car parks are not too safe in some areas, with the one at Bulbourne being definitely one to give a miss.
The picture by 'Our Man at the Summit' shows what happens when someone is stupid enough to light a fire by the side of vehicles in a car park—it makes a mess.
Burning rubbish
This occurred on Friday when someone seemingly decided to get rid of some rubbish by burning it at the car park by Bulbourne Toll House, cottages and dry dock on the summit of the Grand Union Canal. A narrowboat can just been seen moored by the towpath through the trees.
The fire was quickly doused when the fire brigade arrived after being called by someone witnessing all the smoke and flames. We are told that the fire was not started by Canal & River Trust staff.
