IN ADDITION to the 'hat tipping' on the 'busy' Oxford towpath, Canal & River Trust have undertaken a similar exercise on the towpath at Slaithwaite on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
Describing it as 'a very busy towpath' the Trust set up its 'be polite' scheme, asking the hundreds of people who use that particular towpath to be polite to each other, Peter Freeman tells us.
Vast number of visitors
As on the Oxford towpath tea and coffee is being served to the vast number of visitors to the towpath, that the Trust tell us use this towpath continuously, though alas the pictures only show two! The others are CART staff.
