RIVER Canal Rescue has moved its boat and engine maintenance and electrics courses from Alvechurch Marina, back to its head office in Baswich, Stafford following its move back to its re-furbished headquarters, by bridge 101 on the Staffs & Worcs Canal.
The courses, run monthly from March to November, cover; diesel engines, transmissions, boat plumbing, boat electrics, lay-up and refit procedures, and combine theory with practical demonstrations and participation. They are held in a purpose-built training room with engines housed in an adjacent storage room.
Ideal for owners
Ideal for owners keen to learn more about basic boat engine maintenance, a two-day weekend course costs £120 and is run by Keith Duffy (ex RCR engineer). The boat electrics course is £150 and run by Howard Williams (electrical specialist).
Boat and engine maintenance course dates are: 16-17 April, 14-15 May, 9-10 July, 13-14 August, 24-25 September, 8-9 October and 12-13 November. Electrics course dates are: 18-19 June, 20-21 August and 26-27 November.
Follow-up sessions
In addition, RCR runs one-to-one follow-up sessions for customers attending courses who are keen to apply the knowledge they've gained and courses are also available for groups anywhere in the country. Members' gift vouchers can be redeemed against any products or services, including courses.
