Drowned woman was alive

A WOMAN who had been floating in the Trent near Colwich Marina for an hour and was thought to be dead was found to be still alive.

It was a police officer who waded into the water to retrieve the 'body', when the woman opened her eyes, and he told that he could not repeat his words, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Recovering well

It was PC Mat Mitchell who then pulled the woman to the bank, with her quickly being taken to hospital, where she is recovering well from her ordeal.

He thought her dead after he had first thrown a lifebuoy to her, but she had not responded, and it was then he waded into the river.  She was floating on her back with her head partly submerged, that added to the impression she was dead.
