Towpath history trail

THE latest scheme from Canal & River Trust is a canal towpath history trail, installed over two miles of the Kennet & Avon Canal in Bath.

This is in the form of an audio trail, but can only be used by people using smart phones to scan a code at sites along the trail to access the information, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Various buildings

This particular trail includes the old Halfpenny Bridge that collapsed, Sydney Gardens and various buildings including Cleveland House (pictured).

A spokesman from CaRT explains that the new guides would give people an opportunity to learn more about something which was right on their doorstep, and the audio tour uncovers the hidden history of the Kennet & Avon Canal in Bath.
