A MAN was discovered drowned in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Blackburn earlier this week, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Melvyn Ash had been on a night out with his brother and was walking home along the towpath when it is believed he accidentally fell into the waterway.

Luckier

Another man was somewhat luckier, being rescued from the Oxford Canal at Banbury by police officers underneath the canal bridge at Spiceball Park, Maffi, whose boat is moored on the canal, tells us, and confirmed by Alan.

However he is said to be critically ill in hospital in Banbury.

Another

Yet another man drowned, this time in the Rochdale Canal at Newton Heath, who was discovered on Tuesday evening after a reported fracas.

This death is at present undergoing enquiries.
