A little chilly

THERE will be some rather chilly diners by the side of the Shropshire Union Canal in Chester, as an al fresco dining area has been given planning permission.

The ground floor of a restaurant and bar in a Grade II listed building, in the conservation area, is occupied by a restaurant and bar, and will be extended outside to include al fresco dining, Alan Tilbury tells us.

No objections

There were no objections, even though there are flats on the other side of the waterway, but in view of these flats, the area must close by 9pm.

A supporting letter received by the planners stated that the dining area would 'increase the vitality of the canal side'.
