Man seeks girl who saved him

THE 74 years old man who fell into the Coventry Canal at Tamworth wants to find the girl who saved him, then walked away.

Gilbert Pickering fell off his bike into the Coventry Canal near the Anchor Inn when two loose dogs ran at the front of him causing him to swerve and fall into the water on the 2nd January, Alan Tilbury reveals.

He could not get out of the water, but the dog walker and a young girl helped him out, with the girl contacting the emergency services on her mobile.

Paramedics arrived and told that he was on the verge of suffering hypothermia, so he was taken to hospital complaining of a pain in his chest.

Gilbert would very much like to say 'thank you' to the girl who helped save him, and hopes she will come forward.  He says he will not be cycling along the towpath again.
