THE Information Commissioners Office (ICO) have had cause to write to British Waterways concerning breaches of the Freedom of Information Act.

Four breaches of the act have occurred due to British Waterways not responding to requests within the 20 working days required by law, writes Allan Richards.

Since last November

The four breaches concern Board papers requested in November 2010 and in January, March and May of this year where British Waterways has failed to respond despite 24 reminders, two requests for review and four complaints to the Information Commisioners.

ICO case officer, Alun Johnson has asked British Waterways to disclose the information requested by 6th July.
