SYKEHOUSE LOCK ON THE New Junction Canal was closed on three occasions during August.

It is currently closed due to lock gates being inoperable, Keith Gudgin reports.
As a result the lock is closed for navigation, the third time during August.
It being closed on the 4th and on the 7th, for various reasons.
Though closed, the trust tells—"Boaters are advised not to attempt to navigate through the lock and to plan their journeys accordingly. Our teams are aware of the issue and will arrange for the necessary works to restore the lock to operation as soon as practicable".
How can it be used?
This gives the impression that the lock, though closed, can be used, though not advisable!
Surely as gates are inoperable, why advise boaters not to use the lock, when they cannot?
