THE CLOSURE OF Ware Lock 2 on the Lee Navigation occurred on the 32rd of January.
But there is a chance it could reopen on the 25th July, Keith Gudgin reports.
The Environment Agency was continuing to monitor the condition of the lock gates and manage navigation arrangements during this period.
Then we were informed by the agency in January that navigation through Ware Lock would be suspended due to essential repair works that need to be carried out at the lock.
Wasn't so essential
It obvious wasn't so essential as since then the navigation has been suspended through Ware Lock, with boaters advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
The reason for its long closure the agency tells 'was necessary to ensure the safety of our customers and to allow engineers to complete the required repairs as efficiently as possible'.
