Riverside Festival brings in the crowds

WHAT PROVED TO BE the biggest ever Leicester Riverside Festival brought in the crowds during last weekend.

The event taking place over the Saturday and Sunday, Janet Friend reports.

Though it started off rather wet, the festival attracted large crowds to both the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal and elsewhere in the city.

University involved

This included the De Montfort University that was involved, giving the event much more space and so expanding the size of the festival area. Picture by Tom Mack Leicester Mercury.

There were lots of activities including stalls and entertainment on the campus, as well as in Castle Gardens along the navigation. 

On the river were boat rides, kayaking and dragon boat races. With live music on the stage a pop-up art gallery and a mini-disco for children.  And of course food with street food from around the world.
