So it's frogs, toads, newts and other species
IN THIS time of Canal & River Trust scrambling to get cash and being so unsuccessful, its effort is now for the benefit of frogs, toads, newts and other species, writes Julie Warne.
It has launched a campaign to help frogs, toads, newts and other species on the Lancaster Canal by restoring their habitat.
Improve a wetland
It wants to improve a wetland nature reserve next to the Lune Aqueduct on the waterway that will help support the recovery of these creatures.
So it's wildlife again, though there are scores of dedicated wildlife associations much more knowledgeable than CaRT who have the cash to spare, without using its manpower, which in this day would be much more useful in supporting the maintenance of our sadly crumbling waterways.
Surely there are others more capable—and knowledgeable to do this work—should it be required.
