THE new Shakespeare Marina at Stratford has welcomed its first narrowboat.
It was 50 years ago that a marina was proposed on the Avon in the town and at long last it is coming to fruition, Roger Fox reports.
Official opening
The 250 berths marina is nearing completion for its planned official opening in April to coincide with part of the celebrations of Shakespeare’s birthday.
The berths are now in situ and work is beginning on the services.
These will include a shower block with laundry together with pump-out and fuel. The berths will have service pedestals supplying electricity and water.
