Trip boat fundraising off to a good start

THE fundraising to replace Basingstoke Canal Society's trip boat is off to a good start.

It's trip boat Kitty is nearing the end of its useful life with repairs being impossible to sustain, so fundraising was put in place to replace the boat.

KittyFirst stage

The first stage of the fundraising project to replace Kitty at a cost of £2,000 finished as a resounding success raising £12,447 with 196 supporters over 42 days.

The society owns two passenger boats providing trips on the Basingstoke Canal—the John Pinkerton II which operates from Odiham and hosts up to 50 guests and Kitty, operating from the Town Wharf in Woking, carrying up to 12 guests.

All proceeds go directly to safeguarding the Basingstoke Canal for the future.  At this time the maintenance crews are currently preparing for the 2022 boating season.

Three ways to enjoy

There are three ways you can enjoy the canal on either of our boats as charter trips booking all the seats on either boat for a private event or party.

There are public trips that can be paid for either securely online or on the towpath on the day.

Then there are themed trips, with such as cream teas or music evenings.
