Coronavirus has wiped-out the information

I TOOK the opportunity to search for waterways information on the web and found virtually nothing, writes James Henry.

For it seems that coronavirus has wiped-out all the information that was previously available.

Still available

The best source of northern waterways news was undoubtedly Pennine Waterways, but alas its last update was way back in March of last year telling the Skipton Swing Bridge was to be replaced.  But luckily it is still available with its virtual cruises.

Canal Junction was always bang up to date, but now nothing since November, and all those other waterway web sites that arose are no more.

It would seem only those supported by an actual hard copy publication are still available, though a bit fraught on information with for instance Towpath Talk telling  of ministers briefing on Ireland, a climate action plan and a new look at Ireland. This was a week ago.  Fascinating stuff!

No actual news

The IWA has plenty of bumf on its site but no actual news.  Perhaps with such bad news for CaRT it has decided now it has joined with it, it is better to remain silent!

The boaters association NABO however, with no such restriction, has plenty of news but often obviously not to CaRT's liking.

It will be interesting to see what happens when this virus is eventually conquered.
