The waterway closures continue

Published: Thursday, 29 July 2021

MORE waterway closures have been announced.

The Calder & Hebble is closed  with the failure of the Saterhebble Guillotine Lock, that has 'malfunctioned', Keith Gudgin Reports.

Boat blamed

And the Kennet & Avon is out of action at Southcote Lock (104), with no further information other than a boat is blamed for the damage and it will be closed until further notice.

The Huddersfield Narrow is closed at Lock 25W 'owing to further issues'.  This former CaRT repair looks like a bodge following a bodge following a bodge as this is the third time it has been closed with problems with the paddles.

What a shower!

It's an unbelievable situation at Tewitfield Customer Services on the  Lancaster Canal, with its shower packing up way back on the 16th of July and our  being told one could not be sourced on the 19th, one could not be sourced on the 23rd and one could not be sourced on the 28th!

Our Keith gives these hopeless lot a bit of advice—there's B&Q, CEF, Wickes, Plumbase, Screwfix, etc, etc...

What a shower of contractors, indeed!
