THE waterways have suffered two more closures, but this time it is not the result of poor maintenance.

A spill has closed the Peak Forest Canal at Greensdeen Bridge (33), though we are not told what the substance is, only that a boom has been place around it to prevent it spreading, Keith Gudgin reports.

ShirleyDrawbridgThe plan is to remove the substance then reopen the waterway with an inspection today, Friday.

North Stratford

North Stratford Canal is closed at Shirley Drawbridge (8), but once again it is a vehicle that is responsible.

The vehicle was driven into and damaged the road barrier, with contractors called out today to 'attend and assess the emergency repair required'.
