Kennet & Avon closed by sunken boat

A NARROWBOAT was caught on the cill of Bradford Lock at Bradford-on-Avon and sank.

It is now blocking the navigation but Canal & River Trust maintain it will be removed over the week-end, Keith Gudgin reports.

The danger

Once again it shows the danger of a boat being too far back in a lock as the water is being emptied, and being caught on the cill and sunk.

Obviously newcomers do not realise that quickly closing the bottom paddles will stop the disaster, as experienced boaters realise as soon as the boat's bow starts to become lower than its stern.
