'Floating' cinema opens in June

THE only 'floating' cinema in the country opens on the Regents Canal in June.

Rather that actually floating, the cinema is mounted on rafts by the water with people viewing either from hired boats on the water or deck chairs on land at Merchant Square on the Regents Canal and was introduced last year, Roger Fox reports.

FloatingCinemaBoats and deck chairs

The Openaire Float-in, as it is named will operate at the location for four weeks from 2nd June, with eight seater boats available at £240 each and water side deck chairs at £17.50.

Films being shown include Pulp Fiction, Jaws and the Dark Night, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Hook, Notting Hill, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Bohemian Rhapsody, Grease, The Greatest Showman and The Sound of Music. So plenty of choice.

Food and drink

The event is held in partnership with Häagen-Dazs, that will offer ice cream and other food and drink, which can be ordered via app and will be delivered directly to the boats and deck chairs.
