Macclesfield Canal still closed

THE culvert failure closing the Macclesfield Canal has still not been repaired.

Though Canal & River Trust insist that 'works on site have progressed well', it still maintains that work will continue in coming weeks, Keith Gudgin reports.

Stop planks installed

The failure between bridges 38 and 39 on the waterway was a failed culvert on the 24th March, but six weeks later the trust is reporting that stop planks have been installed with water flow managed by over-pumping to maintain levels along the canal.

Works will continue

As to the reopening of the canal, all we are told is that works will continue over the coming weeks.
