Small business appeal donations matched

THERE was some controversy amongst boaters regarding the outcome of the Small Business Appeal.

The Press Release regarding this just stated that £31,500 was award in grants shared across 43 local charities, that were listed, but boaters contacted us asking how this was made up.

Match funding

We have been told that 'there was £15,750 in public donations, with Trust match funding (£15,750) we had a total funding pot of £31,500'.

The original Press Release stated: The appeal was supported by hundreds of donors with the Canal & River Trust match funding public donations—including Trust chief executive, Richard Parry, who donated 20% of his salary for the first three months of the year.
