Body pulled out of canal.

A BODY has been pulled out of the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

The body of a man was pulled from the canal at Leigh yesterday, Thursday, morning with paramedics called to the scene.  Though the paramedics remained for an hour no one was taken to hospital.

Boat crew

A boat crew was deployed to search the canal with divers in the water and fire appliances also on hand and the towpath closed.

Residents reported seeing forensics investigators along the towpath.
