Wolverhampton plan a 'canal quarter'

THERE are plans for a 'canal quarter' of 350 on the Wolverhampton Level.

The build to rent developer, Placefirst, has revealed its plans for a canal side project of 350 homes in Wolverhampton city centre at Lower Horseley Fields, Roger Fox reports.

By the junction

The site in on five acres of brownfield land by the junction of the Wolverhampton Level and Wyrley & Essington canals and will feature a mix of new homes and restoration of the heritage properties in the canal basin.

Placefirst intends to submit its planning application to the city council and should permission be granted, intends to start construction later this year.

Regeneration

David Mawson, Chief Executive Officer of Placefirst, explained:

“Placefirst is working with City of Wolverhampton Council to deliver its ambitious vision for the canal side quarter and kickstarting the multi-billion pound regeneration of the city."
