First of the coronavirus cancellations

ORGANISERS are taking notice of the warnings concerning the coronavirus outbreak.

Bespoke Canal Boat Builders, Aqua Narrowboats, have cancelled their Spring Open Day due to be held this coming Sunday.

The company published the following on its website:

We’re sorry, we have cancelled our Open Day on Sunday 8th March due to the growing health concerns following the coronavirus outbreak.

While we are disappointed that the Open Day will not take place, the health and safety of our staff and customers attending the event is always our highest priority. Thank you for your understanding.

Warning from World Health Organisation

There are warnings from the World Health Organisation concerning everyone over the age of 60 or who have an underlying condition like cardiovascular disease, a respiratory condition or diabetes, have a higher risk of developing severe COVID19.

It advises such people to avoid crowded areas, or places where they might interact with people who are sick.

It is expected that under such exceptional circumstances and in an attempt to control the spread of the disease this will be the first of many such cancellations affecting boating.
