Still no results from Saltersford inspection survey

THOUGH the results of last week's survey of the closed Saltersford Lock have been perused, further inspection is needed.

It was on the 28th of October that a void was discovered in Saltersford Large Lock causing it to be closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reported.

Flooding

A survey was carried out, though it was delayed owing to flooding of the Weaver, but was eventually conducted last week.

However the inspection has not confirmed the extent of the discovered void in the lock chamber, so a further inspection is to be planned in the hope that the scale of the void can be fully ascertained.

In the meantime the lock remains closed, so again the main section of the Weaver is unnavigable.
