Fire closes Rochdale at Hebden Bridge

A MASSIVE canal side mill fire at Hebden Bridge has closed the Rochdale Canal.

The fire broke out last night (Thursday) at the derelict Walkley Clogs Mill in Mytholmroyd, near Hebden Bridge, with the police instructing that there is a danger to both passing boats and walkers.

Demolition

Both the navigation and the towpath are there closed whilst demolition of the building takes place, but is not expected to take too long.

The fire has been doused by the attending firefighters with just a shell of the building left, with demolition work taking place today.
