They've got that right!
THE Canal & River Trust tells it is proud to be taking part in a garden at Chelsea Flower Show.
But it really should not be, as the exhibit shown by designer Paul Gregory, shows a lock complete with badly leaking gates, leaking cills and even water coming out of the wall below the lock!
Showcasing the beauty of the waterways
The Trust goes on to state that the garden is 'showcasing the beauty of the waterways to thousands of visitors', and it has certainly got that right, with the lock really showing locks today under its jurisdiction—in dire need of maintenance.
The Trust goes on to state that the garden is a 'stunning natural environment, the garden’s main feature is a canal, with authentic lock gates, which flows next to a wild perennial meadow and a lock keeper’s cottage with a cultivated garden'.
So how did it come about that the renowned designer portrayed the waterways with such badly leaking gates?
West Cowick
Perhaps it is because he lives at West Cowick in Yorkshire, just half a mile from the Aire & Calder, and of course took his design from an actual leaking lock.
And as our contributor Roger Fox reported— It may well be a true reflection of how its canals are maintained but it is not the one which it would like us to believe, according to the PR.
How right!
