Collapsing bridge closes Rochdale Nine

A COLLAPSING bridge over the Rochdale Canal in Manchester has closed the waterway to navigation.

The canal is now closed from Lock 84 at Dale Street to Lock 92 at Castlefield, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Masonry breaking away

Masonry from the bridge is breaking away from the bridge into the canal making navigation dangerous.

Canal & River Trust however do not tell which bridge it is, only that the canal is closed until its owners, Manchester City Council, can attend and make it safe.
