THE inquest into the death of 30 years old Leanne Gordon heard that she was more than three times the legal drink drive limit when she slipped when wading into the River Great Ouse with her children and drowned.

It was her nine years old boy, one of her three children, that shouted at passers-by that his mother had fallen and had gone, with people then attempting to rescue her, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Drowned in front of her children

But she had drowned in front of her horrified children, with the boy seeing her hair 'floating' on the water.

The inquest learnt that personal trainer Leanne had 275mg of alcohol in her blood, that indicated 'extreme drunkenness'. Cannabis was also found in her system when she drowned on the 21st July this year.

A tragedy

Recording a verdict of misadventure, Coroner Tom Osborne told she had an excessive amount of alcohol in her bloodstream that would have hampered her attempts to get out of the water had she got into difficulties. Adding that for whatever reason she had been drinking that afternoon, it had all gone horribly wrong. This is a tragedy.

A passer-by alerted the emergency services when the children were heard screaming, but Leanne's body was not discovered until the next day.
