WHILST there are two Elsan points in Braunston it does seem that the one nearest the Stop House is bearing the brunt of problems writes Kevin McNiff.
Now I know that some are questioning the way CaRT are identifying problems but putting anything down an Elsan that hasn't been in the human body is going to screw it up.
Bagged rubbish
Latest is bagged rubbish, beer cans and such. Because this spot is in clear view of the A45, could it be that non-boaters are deliberately jamming up the works or maybe inconsiderate boaters who cannot walk the 200 or so feet to the refuse bins at the Stop House?
I think there is provision for a padlock on the covers, so why not fit one—it may help to identify where the problem lies. Of course that would rely on boaters locking up after use so it may be a dead horse!
Boater caused problem
It also seems that a boater has caused a major problem at Buckby Locks where a gate has been lifted out. The stoppage went on Saturday 21st and as I write is still in place. No doubt there'll be a lot of Crick bound traffic held up.
Imagine if the back pumping system were to fail when the flight is open again—Carnage! We are en route to Aylesbury for a Russell Newbery Rally and most of the 40 boats attending will be going south from Braunston. We hope, because it's a long way and long hours around the Oxford, Thames and GU!
