Fright Night at museum

SUCH was the success of the Fright Nights at the Halloween events at the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, that there is to be another this year.

Fright Night At The Museum will take families around a spooky story set in the old locks, docks and warehouses of the historic site.

The show takes place on Monday 29th October, Tuesday 30th October and Wednesday 31st October, with tickets costing £5 for adults and £4 for children.

Booking essential

The tickets are on sale now at the museum, and advance booking is essential as last year the event sold out.

Gaynor La Rocca, the museum's Youth Activities Coordinator who has put together the events, explained:

"We were delighted with our event last year so we've been working on a sequel—the story is new and the format is a little different but the great atmosphere will be just the same."

Four tours a night

Each night of the performances will see four tours, taking families around the museum, beginning at 6pm with the last tour at 8.15pm. Each tour takes just over an hour and finished up with the chance for children to trick or treat at the museum's row of cottages. The tour is family friendly but some scenes may be a bit scary for the very young or very nervous.

The script for the performance has been written with renowned canal theatre company Mikron, and will be performed by around 25 local young people and 30 community actors and museum volunteers.
