No pump-out or water for 'Olympic' moorers

THOUGH boaters are being charged what they see as exorbitant charges for moorings at the designated Olympic sites, they are complaining they do not have basic facilities.

Boaters are complaining that Canal & River Trust (CART) has failed to supply the basic facilities of either pump-out or water, with no tap installed near the boats moored opposite Queen Mary University.

Use containers

At the moment there is just a single tap by Old Ford, meaning that boaters have to use containers to carry water, so that they have to be extra careful, and certainly not able to have showers.

A boater complained to the local newspaper:

"In our contracts we were promised a service for pumping out our sewage. We are expecting there to be about 20 boats soon, plus there is now the Floating Market with more boats further along, so the problem could get worse.

"Nobody is telling us what is going on, and our enquiries don't seem to reach the right people within the Canal & River Trust."

Others complaining

Other boaters are complaining with Sue McMurray, comparing it to camping—having to use as little water as possible, but having paid £680 for four weeks, she expected better service.

We are told that as there are no facilities, CART has provided a service boat working the area, providing pump-outs and water, but admit it must have missed people.  And a tap is to be installed near to the moorings at Queen Mary University.
