Marsworth gets go-ahead

IT WAS second time lucky with plans for the old Marsworth British Waterways yard on the Grand Union Canal, with the the council giving its approval.

It was the height of one of the buildings proposed on the original plans that caused such controversy, together with increased traffic, but those plans have been modified, and the height reduced of the 13 new homes that are to be constructed.

Reduced

The height has been reduced to the recommended level to reduce the visual impact on nearby properties.

The former yard had been derelict for many years and concerns about the level of traffic on the surrounding roads were dismissed as it was considered traffic would be no more than that when  the yard was in use.

The agreement included a financial contribution by British Waterways to local education and recreation, and this is being awaited.
