BOATERS who have cruised the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in recent years will be well aware of the sprawling housing development along its banks, with more on the way.
A massive £23 millions development is now planned for the waterway at Blackburn in place of a similar scheme that was stopped by the government last year.
Lock 54
This will be around Lock 54 in the town, and now includes 'affordable' housing as decreed by Places for People, in conjunction with Blackburn with Darwen councils.
There has already been three phases of development by the waterway, with this one the fourth. that includes 'high-quality family housing for local people who want to remain in the area as well as for new residents moving in'. The latest scheme includes 28 affordable homes for either ownership or rental.
