READERS WILL BE AWARE that Sykehouse Road Bridge has been closed time and time again.
It seems that it will now be sorted, Keith Gudgin reports.
Closed for various reasons
Our telling that the bridge had been closed to navigation during August on the 4th, the 7th and the 12th, for various reasons.
Again it is currently closed to navigation due to a mechanical fault.
Again it is the pump that operates the bridge, with the pump now being removed and sent to a specialist for inspection.
The trust tells that at this stage it cannot rule out that repair or remanufacture could take several months.
The good news
The good news is that whilst the bridge is closed assisted passages will be run every Tuesday at 11:00am and Friday at 2:00pm, with a member of the trust's team on hand to operate the bridge manually.
