NOTWITHSTANDING THE LACK of water problems with the Peak Forest Canal, there is now another problem stopping navigation.
This is the failure of Higgins Clough Swingbridge 25, Keith Gudgin reports.
The navigation is closed due to a fault with the bridge that makes it inoperable.
Replacement part required
It has been discovered that a replacement part is required. When this is received a date for completion of the work required to fix it will be given.
However we are informed that an update will not be given before Wednesday, 18th November, that suggests it will perhaps be a fairly long process.
