WE ARE TOLD THAT THE Sykehouse Lift Bridge 7 has now been repaired.

And so the New Junction Canal reopened, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was a mechanical fault that closed the bridge on the 10th September due to a fault with the pump that operates the bridge.

Pump removed

The pump was removed and sent to a specialist for inspection with our being told the repair or remanufacture could take several months.

The new pump has now been fitted and Sykehouse Lift Bridge is fully operational again and navigation returned to normal,

During the stoppage boats were given assisted passages every Tuesday and Friday.
