CANAL & RIVER TRUST TELL that the Bosley Flight on the Macclesfield Canal will only be open for navigation just one day a week.

This being on the Thursday, Keith Gudgin reports.

Though the repairs to Lock 7 on the flight have now been completed and water levels have remained stable, the trust ha announced that to support its customers it is introducing restricted opening times to improve the likelihood of the canal remaining open for navigation.

Tomorrow

So from tomorrow, Thursday 5th  November, the Bosley Lock Flight will be open on Thursdays only, with the flight open from 9:00 am to allow passage through the flight. The last entry will be at 1:00 pm, with all boats cleared the flight by 4:00 pm.

With the trust telling that these operating arrangements are designed to support boaters in planning their journeys while allowing our teams to carefully manage water resources across the network.

The current restriction will be reviewed on 23rd  November.  But then the flight will close for winter work at Lock 11.
