THERE HAVE BEEN TWO MORE closures caused by paddle problems.

These are on the and Rochdale Canal and the North Stratford Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Rochdale Canal is closed at Lock 45 due to a failed paddle on Saturday 18th and boaters now unable to operate the lock for navigation.

This adds to a further stoppage on the waterway as the day previously  the pounds between locks 9 and 16 were closed due to low water.

North Stratford Canal

The North Stratford Canal was also closed on Saturday, but this time a bottom paddle of lock 17 has come away from the wall.

This means the pound below will have to be drained, we are told to allow the team to carry out the works.
