But it will be the most difficult, including houses built on the original line at Renishaw, a derelict flight and the M1 Motorway to conquer. 

The photograph shows the line of the flight, though there are locks in existence at the bottom of the flight.

But then the waterway will once again be a through navigation from the Trent to Chesterfield.

After delays a start has been made by a work party at Renishaw. A public meeting and exhibition have been arranged on Saturday 12th February in the Renishaw & Spinkhill Community Hall, (S21 3UW} next to the Co-op on Main Road in Renishaw.

Rewatering Renishaw

Its purpose is to explain the Chesterfield Canal Trust's Rewatering Renishaw project.

The exhibition will open at 12 noon. The meeting will start at 1.30 p.m. with a brief presentation to be followed by a question and answer session. All are welcome.
