Warning on swimming in the Thames

JUST two miles from where a woman's body was recovered from Boulter's Lock a boy is feared drowned.

The boy went missing on Monday and a desperate search was launched for fear the boy had drowned, Keith Gudgin reports.

Getting into difficulty

Rescue teams have been scouring water between Bourne End and Cookham, after the boy was seen getting into difficulty in the river and the emergency services called.

The rescue team searched the river with Bourne End Marina cordoned off to give police space to search its waters.

A member of the emergency services told that it is very tempting to swim in the Thames in the warm weather, but is dangerous with many people losing their lives when they get into difficulty with the current.

Even when the warm weather eventually arrives the water is very cold and can quickly affect a body's responses.
