Another 'paddle obstuction' closes Huddersfield Narrow

FOLLOWING on the 'paddle obstruction' that closed Lock 10E on the Huddersfield Narrow, there is a further one closing the waterway.

A 'paddle obstruction' has closed Lime Kiln Lock (23W) at Saddleworth, and though 'teams' have been on site they were unable to remove it, Keith Gudgin reports.

Inspect

This means that dams will have to be installed and water pumped out to allow access to the paddle and to inspect it.

It is hoped that the dams will be installed next week, but this means there is no chance of reopening for the Spring Bank Holiday on Monday.

More information will be given on Thursday.
