Another car in a canal

THE latest car to end up in a waterway was in the Lancaster Canal.

It was someone on the towpath who heard the revving car engine then a splash as it careered into the water, Alan Tilbury reports.

Somersaulted

Such was its speed that it somersaulted and ended up on its roof in the canal at Aldcliffe, South of the city, but luckily for the driver he escaped unhurt, and also luckily the canal was shallow so there was no fear of the car sinking and the driver drowning.

This was near midnight on Monday evening, with the police and fire people in attendance.  It is understood the driver was breathalysed, but no results have been published.
